how much of a difference can food fight really make?
There's a lot of conversation about the "band-aid" effect. Many people would argue that shipping meals over-seas doesn't solve the problem of malnutrition, it only holds it at bay. We agree. Food Fight isn't an organization that expects to eradicate world hunger by its work, but rather by the products of its work. With every meal we pack, we don't only give the chance for the hungry to eat; we also provide a high school student the experience of leading and organizing a group of his/her peers into a common purpose. Food Fight doesn't just pack meals; we equip high school students with the skills of leadership, responsibility, accountability, and initiative. We teach them to fight, so that when they one day find something worth spending their life battling, they have the tools, skills, and resources to be a solution that works.
is food fight a religious organization?
No. Food Fight is an independent entity, despite the fact that we have a lot of influence in the christian community. We do not elevate nor support any belief over another, and we are completely independent from any church or religion.
How does food fight raise its money?
We host a plethora of annual events, organize a multitude of local fundraisers in small restaurants or businesses, sell merchandise, and accept any and all donations graciously.
how can i help if i'm not in high-school?
There are a number of ways for anyone, high school or not, to help Food Fight in its mission. Find us at any of our events, support us with your donations, buy our merchandise, spread our name, and if you really feel like having an impact, set up a fundraiser. A number of the events from which Food Fight raises money are unrelated to our organization. Our annual dinner at La Sorella is organized and run by a generous patron, and all money goes towards our cause, and COMMUNITY's annual event, Chicks and Chocolate, also helps Food Fight raise money. There are all sorts of ways and a number of degrees to which anyone can make a contribution to our cause. If you have any more questions, feel free to send us an email from our Contact page.
